A two term member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, representing Ondo West State Constituency I, in the 6th and 7th Assembly, Hon Afolabi Akinsiku, has been inducted as member of Board of Trustee (BOT) by the leadership of the People Democratic Party (PDP).
Others who was also inducted alongside with the former lawmaker as BOT members from the southwest region of the country are former Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Ambassador Omolade Oluwateru as well as four other members from Osun, Oyo and other southwest States.
The nomination of Akinsiku which is in line with the constitutional provisions of the PDP chapter II, part IX (1) was performed at the National Headquarters of the PDP by the leadership of the party during its 76th meeting held in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Akinsiku, a lawyer and Chattered member Institutes of Insurance and Arbitrator will hold the position for a period of five years of single term.
Performing the induction, the National Chairman of the BOT Hon Adolphus Wabara introduced the legal luminary Hon Afolabi Akinsiku as the representative of both Ondo and Ekiti States in the Southwest region of Nigeria.
Recalled that Chief Segun Adegoke a three-term Commissioner and former Special Adviser to former late Governor Olusegun Agagu had occupied the same office in the past.
In his remark, shortly after his induction Hon Bar Afolabi Akinsiku thanked God Almighty who spared his life and bestowed on him the opportunity to serve at the pinnacle in the organogram and structure next to the national convention.
According to him “I appreciated the founding fathers of the PDP, acting Chairman of BOT, Aldophus Wabara (Phd), PDP Deputy Chairman South, Senator Arapaja, PDP Vice Chairman Southwest, Hon Alhaji Ajisafe, and the entire National Working Committee, for believing in the younger generation to be involved in the policy formulation and implementation at the highest echelon of the party structure.
” Recognizing the sacrifices and impacts I have made in the party both in local and state chapters and taking into cognizance of these at the national level will spur me to do more and make more positive impact in the national politics. I promised to justify this inclusion to the Board, he said”.
The former Commissioner at the Ondo State House of Assembly Service Commission also appreciated his leader and mentor the former Governor of Ondo State Dr Olusegun Mimiko whose mentorship threw him into the limelight and made him recognised by the National body of the PDP.
He reiterated his readiness to ensure all cracks are mended in the party, probity, accountability and transparency in all dealings shall be his watchword with strata of party membership, equally promised to ensure a level play ground for those who will aspire for any political office.
