Ondo State Police Command has confirmed  the arrest of  three suspects in connection with the robbery incident that occurred on Thursday between Ita-Oba and Oboto in Ondo East Local Government area of Ondo State.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abayomi Jimoh states that the command, wishes to inform the public of a swift and successful intervention following an armed robbery incident that occurred on Thursday between Ita-Oba and Oboto along Ondo Akure road.
According to the report,  a commercial vehicle en route from Ondo to Akure, carrying five passengers, was intercepted and taken into the bush by armed robbers where they obtained their personal belongings.
The victims include; Sunday Omodele, 63 years,Osedimilehin Peter, 29 years,Osedimilehin Ifeoluwa, 18 years, Osedimilehin Florence, 56 years and Ademola Regina.
“Following a swift response to the distress call, the Command operatives alongside Ondo State Security Corps (Amotekun) carried out a targeted operation which led to the successfully rescue of the victims from the bush, unharmed.
“Meanwhile three suspects have been apprehended in connection with the robbery. They are identified as; Akinyemi Olamilekan ‘m’, Mutaka Ali ‘m’ and Atiku Abubakar ‘m’.
The suspects have made useful statements,  aiding investigation and will be charged to court upon conclusion”.
The Ondo State Police Command reassures the public of its continuous commitment to the safety and security of lives and property along highways and major commercial routes. Routine monitoring, strategic patrols, and intelligence-led operations within the Area of Responsibility remain ongoing to prevent such criminal activities and ensure rapid response to emergencies.
The Command further urges members of the public to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities to the nearest police station, and provide timely, credible and actionable information that may aid law enforcement in safeguarding the community.
