The lawmaker, representing Oye/Ikole Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Mr Akintunde Rotimi, has assured the people of his constituency that the pains being inflicted on them by skyrocketing prices of food and other essential commodities will soon be over.
The lawmaker said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would take all necessary economic and political measures to put a soothing balm on the pains of Nigerians, by initiating permanent and palliative policies to make the economy stronger and return normalcy to the system.
Rotimi, who is also the spokesperson of the lower legislative chamber, spoke in Oye-Ekiti at the weekend during the Easter thanksgiving service organised by the lawmaker in conjunction with Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Oye and Ikole local governments.
The lawmaker explained that in spite
of the economic crunch and the attendant discomfort, urged the citizens to continue to support the Federal Government, assured that the hardship would soon ne over in the country.
He explained that the President and his team are working round the clock and thinking outside the box apparently to cushion the effects of the current hyper- inflation on the citizenry.
Describing the current economic situation in the country as very unfortunate, the parliamentarian assured the people that the Federal Government would do everything to convince the citizens that landmark measures were being devised to overcome the situation .
Speaking on the programme with the theme: “Salt of the Earth” the lawmaker said he organized the programme to identify and bring together people of his constituency and pray for the co-existence and well-being of the constituency, Ekiti and Nigeria as a whole.
Declaring his intention to make the programme an annual one, the lawmaker assured them that all the electioneering promises made to the people while soliciting for their votes wíll be fulfilled, he admonished them to continue to exercise more patient .
“Please, let us be patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. You all knew that he just came into government. By the grace of God and your support, all these pains
will soon be over.
” He is working round the clock to address the current situation. You know he loves you and he is ever ready to make you happy. Don’t worry, all these crises will be addressed”.
Speaking on how he was passionate about the welfare of the people of his constituency, Rotimi restated that he would always make law that would initiate more life-changing projects to the area.
Earlier in a sermon delivered on the ocassion, by a renown cleric, Tunde Afe, commended the lawmaker for organising the programme which he said will make the people to be more close to God Almighty.
The cleric admonished the lawmaker to continue in the same way, expressed optimism that at the end of his four years tenure, more projects that would have direct impact on the lives of the people would be initiated to the area.
He stressed the needs for the people to always see themselves as the light of the world by protecting several life-changing projects embarked upon by the lawmaker in the in the area.
On the current economic meltdown in the country, the religious leader submitted that the problem is not only for the leaders, but to all the citizenry, he
quoted several passages from the Bible to support his claims.
Dismissing the claims that politics is a dirty game in some quarters, argued that it is a position aimed at empower and better the lots of the people in the society.
He urged the congregation to shun the attitude of collecting money before voting for a particular candidate during an election, describing the move as a cancer worm that has eating deep in the country political circle, urged the people to pray fervently for the wellbeing of the country and Ekiti State in general.
The cleric urged the people to be more proactive in their various communities and maintain moral value advised that the current economic crises blowing across the country shouldn’t be a barrier to the citizens to be more closer to God.
The programme featured praise and worship, songs ministration, prayers Bible reading, thanksgiving, delivery of sermon as well as goodwill messages was attended by both Muslims and Christians.
