Pandemonium broke out on Monday in Emure-Ekiti, headquarters of Emure local government of Ekiti State following the abduction of unspecified numbers of pupils in one of the private Nursery and Primary Schools in the area.
Six pupils of a private school in Emure-Ekiti, three teachers and the bus driver were abducted while returning to Eporo- Ekiti, Monday evening.
The school children who are pupils of Apostolic Faith Nursery and Primary School in the community were said to have been kidnapped at about 5:30pm on Monday when the school branded bus conveying them was returning from Emure to Eporo-Ekiti a neighbouring community.
A source in the area said the school owned and control by a church in the Emure-Ekiti was coming from Emure and healding towards a neighbouring community when a heavily armed men numbering about six surdenly emerged from the bush and whisked the pupils including the driver to the bush.
Confirming the development to Journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, the
Management of the school in a statement said “some pupils, the School Bus driver and an helper were kidnapped by the gunmen.
“The Management therefore called for fervent prayers in order to ensure timely release of the victims” he stated.
However, the spokesperson for the Ekiti State Police command, Mr Sunday Abutu, confirmed the receipt of the incident, said though he has not be properly brief by the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the place.
He promised to get back to our Correspondent as soon as he received proper briefing from the police in the area.
