Personalities from all walks life at the week gathered in Ondo town to celebrate the 30th anniversary and unbreakable production of the bio-monthly Glamour News Magazine.

Speaking at the event, the Publisher and the Editor-in-Chief of the Magazine, Chief Femi Bello, described the event as the celebration of a vision that later became a reality.

He explained that the magazine which began production 30 years ago, joined at a time when there are high competitive in the terrain of publishing was saturated with a lot of magazines, tabloids and journals of different focuses and forms, while some outfits rushed into the raging, so did they rushed out.

The highly elated Publisher noted that the three decades journey of the widely read magazine has been so arduous, tasking rugged and highly challenging, explained that despite all odds, the resolves of the editorial team to succeed and excel later turned to a success story.

While appreciating friends and supporters, colleagues and other well wishers over the success, Chief Bello described the past thirty years of existence of the Magazine as a journey of growth, learning and meaningful connection across the country.

In a lecture at the occasion, entitled: “Journalism that work for the People” delivered by a Senior Journalist who is also the Founder and Executive Director,  Journalism Clinic, Mr Taiwo Obe, described the theme of the lecture as apt.

He noted that the lecture apart from being germane, it also captures the challenges and dynamics of today’s mass media space, which according to him is being arguably besieged by social media neophytes churning out fake news, non-veritable and sensational blogs masquerading as news items.

He urged Journalists to imbibe the discipline of making changes in the society and shun fake news that could jeopardise the development and progress of the country and dwell more on investigative reporting.

Similarly, in a goodwill message delivered by High Chief Akin Olaniyan, the Odofin of Ondo kingdom, who is also the Chairman of the ceremony, described the 30th anniversary of the magazine as an epoch-making occasion, targeted at reflecting on the humble beginning of an idea that has blossomed into a gigantic achievement.

Speaking further on the anniversary celebration, the community leader noted that thirty years in the life of an institution is generally a compilations of ardours tasks, fortitude and resilience.

While congratulating members, staff as well as  the editorial members of the Glamour News Magazine over the anniversary celebration, the Ondo Chief later urged them to always maintain what he called quality and genuine information dissemination to members of the public.

The event also featured award presentations, launching of the anniversary edition of the magazine, cutting of anniversary cake and photographs, delivery of goodwill messages among others.

The well-attended ceremony held at the expansive Ade-Olotu event Centre, located at Gani-Fawehinmi Ondo town, was attended by eminent personalities within and outside Ondo town, including members of the editorial board, Broadcasters Journalists from different media organisations including the immediate past Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ondo State Council, Mr Adetona Aderoboye among others.
