Ekiti State police command has confirmed the arrest of a 22-year-old housemaid, Precious Adunola, over alledged conspiracy, armed robbery and attempt to kidnap her 87-year-old boss in Ifaki-Ekiti, Ido/Osin local government area of Ekiti State
The police also confirmed the arrest of two persons alongside with the maid for allegedly conspired together to robbed the victim disposed her of huge amount of money and later threatened to kill her.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO0 Ekiti State Police Command, Mr Sunday Abutu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) said on the fateful day one Shedrack Akpos and Lucky Akpos stormed the resident of the Octogenarian woman at Ifaki-Ekiti at the middle of the night, armed with gun to robbed her.
He explained that the suspects had successfully collected the sum of one hundred and fourty-seven thousand naira from the victim and later forced her to withdraw the sum three million naira from her bank account and give it to the housemaid for onward transferred to them.
The Ekiti State police spokesperson added that the suspects equally continue threatened to kidnap the old woman and kill her, if she fail to withdraw the money and send to them as demanded.
He explained that the police upon the receipt of the complaint, the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) attached to the command swung into action and arrested the suspects in their hideout, later arrested the 22-year-old housemaid.
The PPRO disclosed further that during interrogations, the two suspects who are currently in the custody of the police have confessed to the commission of the crime and said they were invited by the maid to the house of the old woman to come and rob her.
He disclosed that the suspects would soon be arraigned in a competent court of jurisdiction as soon as investigations are completed on the matter.
In a interview with the housemaid, Precious Adunola, described herself as a victim of circumstances, she denied the allegation of being conspired with other suspects to rob her principal.
She explained that she was born and brought up in Efan-Alaye, in Efan local government area of Ekiti State and brought to the old woman by her senior sister to serve as a housemaid immediately she finished from the Secondary School, so that she can get money to further her education.
She explained that on the fateful day the suspected robbers came to robbed the old women, she was also robbed and disposed of her phone and other valuables.
