Ondo Kingdom, renowned for its hospitality and friendliness is facing a critical situation that threatens its honor and pride. The recent councillorship selection in Ondo West Local Government, where seven out of twelve wards were conceded to non-indigenes, has sparked concerns among the community. This decision is seen as a departure from the kingdom’s political tradition and has raised fears about the potential erosion of the kingdom’s autonomy.
Ondo Kingdom has a rich history, dating back over 500 years, and has been a beacon of unity and progress for all and sundry. Our political system of governance, which emphasizes collective decision-making and unity, has been disrupted by the recent events. The community is calling on the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Eghares, political leaders, and all stakeholders regardless of party affiliation to take a bold steps to address the situation and restore the kingdom’s honor and pride.
The progress and collective development of the Ondo Kingdom depend on the community’s ability to unite and resist the negative influences of external force. We cannot fold our arms and stand still while we allow our birthright to be taken away from us. The community must come together to protect its interests and ensure that our community interest is preserved.
