A  Federal High Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Akure has proposed  the forgery trial of Oba Babalola Adebomi, the Alararomi of Araromi-Ekiti, to January 28, 2025.
The embattled monarch is currently facing a two-count charge of certificate forgery, allegedly presented a fake University of Ibadan degree and a forged NYSC discharge certificate to secure a job at the University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, back in 2008.
According to the charge sheet numbered, FHC/AK/16/2024, the royal defendant is accused of knowingly forging documents and presenting them to the hospital as genuine, an offense punishable under Nigeria’s Miscellaneous Offences Act.
With the trial now under Justice T.B. Adegoke, Oba Adebomi entered a plea of “not guilty.” His counsel, Olumide Ogidan, confirmed he is seeking to move the trial to Ekiti. Meanwhile, Oba Adebomi remains on bail, awaiting the new court date.
