an-Yoruba socio-cultural organization, the Defense for Yoruba People’s Right (DYPR), has expressed sadness over the demise of the former Governor of Ondo State, Arakurin Rotimi Akeredolu SAN, who passed on Wednesday after a protracted health challenge.
an-Yoruba socio-cultural organization, the Defense for Yoruba People’s Right (DYPR), has expressed sadness over the demise of the former Governor of Ondo State, Arakurin Rotimi Akeredolu SAN, who passed on Wednesday after a protracted health challenge.The group in a statement by its National President Otunba Muyideen Olamoyegun, described the death of Akeredolu as a big loss to the people of Ondo state, his community of Owo and the nation at large.
According to him: “Beyond the rhetorics of politics, Aketi was a patriot who did only what he believed in and was never shy of expressing his personal beliefs no matter how controversial.
“He was a dogged politician and a defendant of human rights. Aketi was and remained a dogged fighter for any causes he believed in and a politician of good personality. His departure will no doubt be felt by his wife, children, immediate associates and residents of Ondo State”
The Yoruba group urged the people of the state to support Akeredolu’s family in prayers and admonishion, saying that all what the family needs at this present time is prayers and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss at this trying times.
The group also enjoined the people of the state, especially members of the political class to shed all their political differences and sentiments and think on how to move the state forward.
“I enjoin all the people of Ondo state to shed all toga of partisanship and sentiments to mourn the departed compatriot and join in praying for strength to the family to bear the loss. Aketi has done his bit and left this shores for good. Life is worth, to do our best to honour his memory and for the good of our dear State and country.
The group who quoted several passage from the Holy Bible and Quran, described death as inevitable debt that must be paid by all motals, explained that the socio-cultural organization joined millions of Nigerians to commiserate with the immediate family of the late Governor.
