An indigene of Ekiti State and a Councillor-elect, in Stevenage Borough Council, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, Mr Akin Elekolusi, has promised that he would offer a better representative.
Elekolusi, an indigene of Efon-Alaye, in Efon local government area of Ekiti State, who recently won as a Councillorship seat during the just concluded local election in the United kingdom, under the platform of Labour Party, said he would contribute meaningfully to the development of the area and Ekiti State in general.
The UK-based Ekiti indigene said he would continue to contribute to the advancement of affairs in the community where he is going to represent and offer a better representative to the people of the area.
The UK Councillor-elect based in Hertfordshire United Kingdom, for over 36 years, spoke with some selected Journalist in Ado-Ekiti recently, shared some of his plans and programmes for the people of Hertfordshire and his home state in general.
He expressed his appreciation to the people for the support given to him and his political party, (Labour Party) during the just concluded local council election in United Kingdom, promised not to betray the trust reposed in him by the people of the area.
Speaking further on his victory and success during the conduct of the exercise, Elekolusi, a Project Manager explained that the development is part of the move to give back to the people and be thankful to the people of the United Kingdom who have accommodated and embraced him and family for over 36 years.
“We have never had any alterations in the community, we have never had any racial issue and my Children have never complained of any racial harassment. When I was declared the winner of the election on the 3rd of May, this year, I was the only black that participated in the exercise out of 29 seats available, it was an area predominantly dominated by the whites, this shows how the people of the area look above racial issue.
“This shows the kind of community I lived and am so grateful to the people. I don’t take this victory for granted, I thanked them for voting for me, I am a first time candidate in this exercise”
While appreciating the people over what he described as the supports given to him during the exercise, the Councillor-elect, promised to serve them diligently to the best of his ability by not repose the confident they have in him, promised to make meaningful contributions to the development of the area.
On the expectation of the people of Ekiti State from him, the UK Councillor-elect promised that putting Ekiti into positive global map will be one of his top priorities, equally vowed established a synergy with the Ekiti State Government on some ideas that would further transform the state for better,
“I intended to put Ekiti Sate on the global map through this wonderful opportunity that has been given to me. The people of Ekiti State will be hearing from me in one way or the other in some of the ideas and how we can achieve this and get things done. He stated.
