The Secretary to Ekiti State Government, Dr Abibat Adubiaro, has explained that the present administration in the State under the leadership of Mr Biodun Oyebanji, will continue to wage a serious battle against the unscrupulous activities of those who wanted to thwart the peace currently enjoying in the State.
The SSG, who was honoured with an award on the occasion for her commitment and support to the union,
warned that inadequate parental care could pose a threat to societal peace.
“In his benevolent manner, the governor has consistently supported the state’s security agencies by providing them with essential mobility resources. Only recently, governor Oyebanji distributed 30 vehicles to enhance the mobility of security personnel, underscoring his commitment to bolstering security efforts in the state’, she said.
Adubiaro also highlighted other strides, made by the current administration, in youth empowerment,casting over 1,000 youths were empowered last year alone, and that similar initiatives had continued this year.
“The governor’s proactive measures, are aimed at keeping our youths, engaged and occupied, so as to ensure peace of mind for parents and society as a whole”, she added.
Dr Adubiaro described security as a joint efforts between the government and the citizenry, called on the residents to always assist the security agencies by providing relevant informations that would enhance their activities, noted that the government would not relent in its effort at taming those who may want to trauncate the peace of the State.
She commended the NUJ for organising the programme and explained that as part of the efforts of the State Government to boost the security architecture of the State, it has just distributed about 30 security vehicles to the operatives in the State.
As part of the move to further strengthen security in the State, Dr Adunbiaro promised that the government has also concluded plans to distribute more
working tools and other logistics will still be provided for the security agencies operating in the strate.
“I enjoin the people of the state to always assist our law enforcement agencies with useful informations that can lead to the arrest of criminals or stemming their activities.
“The government on its parts would continue to assist and provide logistics for the security agencies and ensure that the state is safe from the activities of the criminals, security operatives are also urged to redouble their efforts at ensuring security of lives and property in Ekiti State ” she stated.
Earlier in the lecture, the Ondo Amotekun Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, argued that corruption and cyber crime as the main causes of insecurity in the country.
He advised governors in the southwest region to as a matter of urgency embrace and support the formation of State police towards addressing the security challenges in the zone.
The Amotekun boss who suggested that the time has come for the governments to be decisive in tackling the activities of criminal elements in the zone by investing in the local and grassroots policing for a secured society.
While commending the six governors in the region for their support towards the operations of the South West Security Network, he solicited the cooperation of stakeholders especially traditional rulers and the residents by providing timely and adequate information on suspicious activities in their communities.
He added that existing security agencies in the country are doing their best to provide security for the people, but lamented that bureaucracies and other factors have limited their performances in addressing kidnappings, killings and other heinous crimes.
