An Islamic Cleric and Senior lecturer Bamidele Olumilua University of Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI), Alhaji Qudus Olayiwola, has explained that Nigeria could only get out its current economy quagmire, if only it can emulate strong policies of Islam and developed countries.
The cleric also suggested the needs for the people to be more closer to Allah Almighty and refrain from the godly things which he said may hampered their prayers.
Alhaji Olayiwola who is also the Chief Imam in charge of Akinbami Central Mosque, Ajilosun, Ado-Ekiti spoke on Tuesday during a Ramadan Lecture organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ekiti State Council.
Speaking on the topic “Unblocking Economic Stability in Nigeria Leverage on Islamic Principles” argued that no nation can survive without stabilizing it’s economy.
He urged Nigerian to emulate those countries that have stabilised their economy, saying that its only this daily lives of the residents will receive a boost.
The cleric equally suggested for a change and moderate on individual daily spending and build this on individual daily income.
The University Lecturer described the cause of the economy problem currently ravaging the country as not only the inability of Nigeria leaders to manage the Almighty Allah given resources and the high rate in the numbers of unemployment in the country.
The religious leader mentioned three things that need to put in place for the country to have a positive changes to includes stabled security, provisions of abundant food and provision of good healthcare among others.
The cleric equally highlighted some possible causes of the current economy meltdown in Nigeria to include, lack of mercy between the rich and poor, too much love in money, maladministration of office among politicians as well as extrvagancy in spending money among those at the helms of affairs.
On the way forward, the cleric urged the government to embrace Islamic banking and introduce it in many Nigeria Universities, he also suggested the needs for the introduction of standard law that would further stabilize the economy.
Other solutions suggested by the cleric includes introduction of empowerment and welfare programmes where people will be assist and empower.
Earlier, the NUJ Chairman in Ekiti State, Mr Kayode Babatuyi, said the programme organised by the union to God Almighty Allah on the current situation in the country.
He described the topic of the lecture as apt looking at the current situation in the country, urged to pay raft attention on the lecture.
