Eight suspects, who allegedly constituted public nuisance under the guise of agitating for Yoruba Nation, have been rounded up by the Ogun State Police Command.
The suspects were alleged to had taken to major roads in Sango-Otta, specifically Temidire Junction and Under-Bridge, on Thursday, December 25, 2025, being Christmas Day, an offense the command said amounted to breach of public peace, unlawful assembly, obstruction of traffic.
They were also alleged to had, in the process, seriously assaulted Police officers on duty.
A statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, disclosed that the group, under the aegis of “Democratic Republic of the Yoruba”, unlawfully barricaded roads, set bonfires, disrupted free flow of traffic, and attacked Police officers deployed to maintain law and order.
According to Babaseyi, upon receiving the distasteful report, Police operatives swiftly mobilized to the affected locations, successfully dispersed the group, and effected the arrest.
He gave the suspects’ identities as Adewale Sosanya, (m) 48; Opeyemi Oladotun, (m) 31; Zara Gabriel, (f) 22; Ajoke Gabriel, (f) 19; Adewale Adebomojo, (f) 48; Yusuf Tanimowo, (m) 40; Olurotimi Ademola, (m) 52; and Toyin Gabriel, (f) 40.
Exhibits recovered from them included a Toyota Dyna vehicle, used to convey the suspects, two broadcast speakers, a carton containing flags, shirts bearing inscriptions of their agitation, and banners displaying their messages and manifesto.
He said the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has reassured
residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
The CP, however, warned that the Police would not tolerate any act capable of breaching public peace, and emphasized that any assault on Police officers would be met with decisive action.
