The All Progressive Congress (APC) Ondo West Local Government chapter, have accused the Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on mobilization, Mr Jimi Akintunde of sponsoring protest against the wishes of the party over the forthcoming council election slated to hold on 18th of January, 2025.
The party under the aegis of APC Consign Youths Forum and signed by the Chairman and Secretary, Ibukun Oluwatobi and Robert Akinwalere respectively, equally accused the Governor’s Aide of orchestrating several protests against the leaders of the the party and their plans in the council area.
Recour that hundred of youths in the council area, on Thursday trooped out in their large numbers to protest against the choices of the party on Councillorship positions in the area.
The youths, during the protest chanting various solidarity songs and placards with various inscriptions called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and other leaders of the party to intervene in the matter.
Similarly , some youths and leaders in the party have disassociated themselves from the protest and alledged Mr Jimi Akintunde of being behind the protest and sponsored some youths in the party against the decisions of the leaders ahead of the council elections.
They equally alledged him of sponsoring several litigations against the party in the area and described him as a person who didn’t mean well for the party.
The APC Youths Forum called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to sanction Mr Jimi Akintunde who was former Vice-chairman in the council area.
According to them ” Mr Jimi Akintunde was quoted to have said he is ready to lose his Special Assistant status than to allow the nomination of leaders to stand in his political ward 8 where a candidate he didn’t endorse was presented.
“Though, key leaders in his ward have dissociated themselves from the political gimmicks of Mr Jimi Akintunde in which they termed as “political short-sightedness”
But when contacted on phone, Mr Jimi Akintunde, denied the allegation of sponsoring any youths against the wishes of the APC in the area.
He said though the protesters who are members of the APC in the council area, were really protesting for their fundamental human rights.
He vowed to stand against the wishes of the party as far as the forthcoming local government elections are consigned.
