A Non-governmental Organization, Adeyosoye Feyisola Adeniyi (AFA) Child Care Advocacy Foundation, has expressed its deep concern over the alleged sale of a 3-day-old baby by two women, Lauretta Akomen and Tessi Ikechukwu, in Delta State.

The foundation also lamented over the development and described it as a heinous act capable of underscoring the desperation and exploitation faced by vulnerable individuals, especially women and children, in the society.
The foundation in a statement, dated 5th of October, 2024, signed by its digital secretary, Mr Ayo Adetula, explained that the swift intervention of a vigilant tricycle rider, who reported the suspicious activity, led to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the innocent baby.
While commending the activities and the brave individuals over what it called their roles in averting the alledged sales, however called on the security operatives to redouble their efforts in combating such an occurrence in the nearest future.
The AFA foundation equally urged the government to do everything within their capacity and ensure that the perpetrators face wrath of law and bring to justice, also suggested the needs to provide necessary care and protection to the baby.
The foundation equally suggested the needs for an increase support for the vulnerable women apparently to stop future occurrence of such event.
Other suggestion and solutions raised by the foundation are provisions of good accessible to education, economic opportunities and good healthcare services.
Other move that will put a reduction to the menace as mentioned by the AFA foundation are provisions of community vigilance, encouragement of community members to report suspicious activities,
strengthened child protection laws, provisions of laws and policies safeguard children’s rights as well as prevent child trafficking among others.
The AFA foundation while reaffirming its commitment to continue advocating for the rights and well-being of women and children, also reiterating its continue readiness to work tirelessly towards a society where such atrocities are prevented and every individual thrives.
It solicited for the supports of the general public to join hands with the foundation in condemning this act and promoting a safer, more just society for all..
