The Adeyosoye Feyisola Adeniyi Child Care Advocacy Foundation(AFA) strongly condemns what it called heinous act of defilement allegedly committed by the trio of Chibuzo Benjamin, Sunday Akpan, and Emmanuel Okechukwu against a 12-year-old girl in Ago, Okota, Lagos State.
In a statement by the Digital Secretary of the foundation, Mr Ayo Adetula, lamented over the development and explained that one of the suspects, Chibuzo Benjamin, is the victim’s step-father, is the most disturbing aspect of the incident.
The foundation who applaud what it called swift action taken by the Lagos State Police Command, particularly Mr Benjamin Hundeyin, a Superintendent of Police, in arresting the suspects and transferring the case to the Gender Unit of the command for further investigation.
Explained that it’s reassuring to know that Benjamin and Akpan have confessed to the crime, during interrogation by the police, while Okechukwu’s denial will be thoroughly investigated.
Lamenting over the development, the foundation emphasized the need for increased vigilance and protection of girl child, especially in their own homes and communities.
The foundation who demanded that the perpetrators arraign in competent court and make to face the full weight of the law and as well ensuring justice for the survivor and her family.
Adeyosoye Feyisola Adeniyi Child Care Advocacy Foundation urged that the survivor receives comprehensive support, counseling, and care to overcome this traumatic experience.
Equally urged everyone to report suspected cases of child abuse, defilement and any form of gender based violence against the girl child to the authorities immediately, noted that “together, we can create a safer environment for our children”
