The Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress (OEYC) a factional apex youth organisation in Ondo town strongly supported by the community is currently engulfed with crisis, over allegations of financial misappropriation, gross misconduct and illegal conversion the organisations funds and properties to his personal use, levied against its President , Comrade Kayode Folajogun.
In a 17-paragraph petition written by other executive members addressed to the Chairman Ondo Development Committee (ODC) Youths Advisory Sub-Committee, Dr Mrs Bridget Awosika and the Osemawe in Council, expressed worried that the OEYC may collapsed suddenly over what it called nefarious activities of the Chairman, Comrade Kayode Folajogun.
In the four pages petition, entitled: “Maladministration of Comrade Kayode Folajogun, Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress President, on the affairs of the OEYC, a call for caution and checkmate of his excessiveness before the association collapse suddenly”
The petition copied to the Osemawe in Council, Chief Andy Akintoye the Orunto of Ondo kingdom and the Chairman Osemawe Market Committee, OEYC Advisory Committee, Bar Femi Akinbinu OEYC legal adviser, Comrade Felix Akinmoladun Ekimogun Youths Ambassador and other stakeholders in the town.
Others copied in the petition were, management of First City Monument Bank Ondo town branch, Area Commander Nigeria Police Ondo Area Command, Nigeria Police Force Yaba Division, Department of State Security Service, (DSSS) among other organisations.
The organisation said in the petition that it has exhausted using internal approaches to caution him (The President) severally for his ineptitude character and mismanagement of human and material resources of the organisation, but all its efforts to no avail.
Some of the allegations levied against him were failure to follow due process in the association, but rather transfer funds directly to his personal account for every association projects and exemption of majority of the executive members in financial dealings and transactions.
The President was also alledged to have exemption the executive council members in decision making processes as against the positions of the constitution that the President shall work in connection with all members of the executive council in all matters affecting the organisation.
Allegedly failure to register the association’s business venture, but using his own personal private business name for OEYC businesses, thereby debarring the executive council members from performing their constitutional roles apparently rendering their offices dormant.
Other allegations levied against the embattled OEYC President is the alledged hoarding of benefits, information and opportunities from the executive council and thereby perfecting unspecified number of youths in the community from benefitting from such opportunities.
Allegedly appointing personal assistant and secretary without any written notification to the executive members for approval and using his cronies to act, instead of the executive members on sensitive organization roles. He was equally alledged to have in several occasions exposing confidential information about the association and sensitive executive councils discussion to them, such as association account status to mention a few.
Other allegations mentioned in the petition and levied against the President is his inability to procure OEYC billboard that could have generate huge revenue for the organisation after allegedly withdrawing money for such purpose from the organisation’s bank account amounted to one hundred and fifty thousand naira.
The embattled OEYC President was alledged to have failed to sincerely disclose the actual amount of money given to the organisation by Dr. Tola Awosika, during the last Christmas period and the recent funds from Itesiwaju Om’Ondo to the tune of Five hundred thousand naira as grant for Ekimogun Youth activities which the president claimed was a loan instead.
The executive also alledged the president of claiming to be continue of using his personal money to fund the affairs of the association and borrowing money without the consent and approval of the executive council members thereby allegedly running the association into serious debts.
He was alledged to have failed in disclosing details of the finances of the organisation’s food stuffs marketing and goat rearing business to other executive members of the association.
Allegedly using the organisation’s branded vehicle for political activities, he was alledged to have served as the Ondo West representative for a particular governorship aspirant during the last governorship primary elections for political parties in Ondo State.
Reckless usage of OEYC resources and assets leading to financial wastage, sighting example of the association’s Sienna bus that broke down in less than one year in office of his administration, while the second bus newly donated to the association undergoes series of repairs almost every day due to what it called improper usage.
The executive positioned that the President should be call to order and allow other executive members to perform their constitutional roles without any hindrance. Also noted that any opportunity or benefits information coming to the organisation should be declared and executed without any favour or selfish interests.
That OEYC billboard should be erected or the money earlier earmarked for the purpose that has withdrawn from the bank account of the organisation should be refunded on or before the 10th of August, 2024.
That the President should desist from using his personal and private business account for OEYC business transactions among other positions.
The OEYC President, Secretary and Treasurer who are the Principal and cosignatories to the OEYC bank account should be immedialys mandated to print and present the OEYC statement of account from 1st of January, 2024 till date to the executive council without any further delay.
That the President should always give correct and accurate information to other executive members as received from the Osemawe in council, ODC and the Youth Advisory Council to the executive and members of Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress OEYC.
The executive members in the petition explained that all the grievances and positions as listed in the petition are for the benefit and interest of all members of the Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress for its stability and to rescue the organisation from going into extinction.
