A Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, the Defense for Yoruba People’s Right (DYPR) has insisted that the planned nationwide protest scheduled to begin on the first of August, 2024, will commence as scheduled.
The group said the protest purposely designed to let the government know the displeasure of the masses on the rises in the price of food stuff and other materials in the country would go on as planned, despite all entrities by the government.
The General President of the group, Otunba Muyideen Olamoyegun, in a release he personally signed after the monthly meeting of the group in Akure, the Ondo State capital, lamented over what he called untold hardship brought to the people of the country over what he described as poor policy of the present administration in the country.
He said apart from the prices of food stuff that has gone up, other essential products has also rises in the market, the development which he said was as a result of the poor and obnoxious policies of the Federal Government.
According to him, he particularly mentioned the parliatives given to some governors and members of the National Assembly to be distributed to the people in their states, constituencies and senatorial districts were allegedly diverted to other places for their personal uses.
As part of the poor policy of the Federal Government, the DYPR President explained that the large numbers of political appointees with portfolio under the present administration is another example of bad governance.
Noted that the scheduled protest aimed at ending hunger in the country will commence from August 1, till 10th of August, 2024.
