The National University Commission (NUC) has granted an approval to the Wesley University Ondo, to commence the offering professional courses such as pharmacy, medicine and surgery as well as other notable programmes at the undergraduate levels.
According to a statement from the Public Relations Unit of the institution, said the programmes which will commence during the 2024/2025 academic session, noted that all the programmes submitted by the university for resource verification received approval from the NUC.
The statement explained that the NUC has issued a statement and signed by it’s Acting Director of Academic Planning, Alhaji Abubakar Girei, on behalf of the Acting Executive Secretary and dated September 30, 2024, (NUC/AP/P32/VOL.11/79), revealed that expert panels conducted resource verification visits to assess human and material resources for the proposed programmes at Wesley University, Ondo State.
“The approved programs include, Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.), Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPhysio), Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), B. Sc. Anatomy, B. Sc. Physiology, B.HIM Health Information Management and PGD, M.A, M.Phil, and Ph.D. in Theology.
“The programmes approval marks the fulfillment of one of the university’s strategic goals under the leadership of Rt. Rev Prof. Samuel Sunday Obeka, aimed at establishing and commencing new academic programmes in the university permanent site.
“The Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude to the Methodist Church Nigeria for its support and congratulated the university community on this achievement” the statement added.
