Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have raided a suspected cultists’ hideout in the Arakale area of Akure, arresting three alleged members and recovering weapons and hard drugs.
The operation, carried out late at night on February 10, 2026, was said to be part of the Command’s sustained crackdown on cult-related violence and other criminal activities across the state.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed that at about 11.00 p.m., a team from the Tactical Intelligence Response Squad acted on credible intelligence indicating ongoing cult activities at the location.
The statement said the officers stormed the area and apprehended three suspects believed to be members of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity.
Those arrested were identified as Damilola, popularly known as “2Gbaski,” 34; Uthman, 29; and Akinwale.
According to the police, a search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of one axe, a beret cap, a Retevis walkie-talkie, sachets of tramadol, a substance suspected to be marijuana, and an ice bunker.
The Command stated that the suspects are currently in custody and have made confessional statements admitting their involvement in cult-related activities and other criminal acts within the state.
It added that further investigation is ongoing to track down other possible accomplices and recover additional exhibits.
“They will be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation,” the statement said.
Reiterating its commitment to public safety, the Command vowed to dismantle cult networks operating within the state and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide useful information to the police.
The State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, warned youths against engaging in cultism, noting that such involvement only leads to dire consequences.
He assured residents that the Command remains resolute in its determination to sustain peace and keep the state crime-free, while calling on members of the public to volunteer credible and actionable information to support ongoing security operations.
