A pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organization, the Defense for Yoruba People’s Rights, (DYPR) has commended the people of Osun State over the last Saturday peaceful conduct of the local government elections across the state.
The Yoruba group equally commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for respecting the rule of law by organizing a credible, free and fear local government elections in the State.
The Yoruba group in a statement on Sunday in Akure, the Ondo State capital, appreciate what it called the proactive efforts of the Governor in ensuring a peaceful and secure environment during the conduct of the exercise.
The statement signed by its National President, Otunba Muyideen Olamoyegun, commended the sagacity of the Governor by not given the chance to allow himself to be distracted by some politicians within and outside the state who doesn’t have respect for the rule of law.
Describing Governor Ademola Adeleke as a good and experience politician who will always provide an enabling environment for democracy to strive, the Yoruba group urged the Governor to focus more attention on good governance, security and provision of dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
The Yoruba group equally commended the Western Security Outfit codename Amotekun Corps in the State over what it described as their gallantly performance during the conduct of the exercise.
The group emphasized the importance of supporting state-based security initiatives, such as Amotekun, to safeguard the lives and properties of citizens across the state.
The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) had on Sunday in Oshogbo the Osun State capital announced that the People’s Democratic has won all the chairmanship and councillorship positions across the 30 local government areas of the state.
The Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), Hashim Abioye, said the election was complied with all the existing electoral laws and peaceful conducted .
Abioye said the local Government election has been successfully concluded. It was conducted in compliance with constitutional provisions, extant laws, regulations and guidelines.
According to him the election was conducted to fill the existing vacancies in 332 wards in the state and 30 LGAs of the state.
