Youths in Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo west local government has threatened to embark on a protest over the repeated cases of fire incident in the community.

The youths lamented that no fewer than five residential houses including shops that has gottted by fire in the last three months in the community, they explained that goods and property estimated about several millions of naira has also damaged in the infernos.

The youths under the aiges of Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress (OEYC) lamented over the inability of the officials of Ondo State Firefighters who normally complained about lack of operational vehicle and functional water supply in their office.

The President of the Ondo EOYC Comrade Lucas Famakinwa, issued the threat at the weekend in Ondo town, while embarking on a rescue operations during a fire incident that gottted a two-stotey building located at Fagun area of the community.

The youth leader lamented that no more than five residential houses including shops and warehouses belonging to different categories of people in the community has gottted by fire within the last few months.

He explained that all the incident that happened, officials of the firefighters in the town were called and they were not able to rescue the situation, despite the recent support by the Ondo State Government to the organization.

The youths threatened to embark on a street protest around the community on a date yet to be announce apparently to display their dislike over the situation.

He called on the Ondo State Government to assist the community by equipping the firefighters so that the organization can be functional and rescue distress calls to their office.

Some members of youth in the community who spoke on the issue, said it is only protest to the office of the Governor in Akure that could rescue the situation.
