
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted an approval for the establishment of ten new academic programmes for the Wesley University, Ondo.
In a statement by the Acting Public Relations Officer of the University Mrs Olarewaju Adebola, said the approval, conveyed in an official letter from the Secretariat of the NUC and dated on 27th of January 2025.
The approval made possible following a resource verification visit by a panel of experts to assess the university’s human and material resources.
In the letter signed by the Acting Director in charge of Academic Planning, Mr Abubakar Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, the NUC confirmed that the newly approved programs will run in the main campus of the University with effect from 2024/2025 academic session.
The newly approved programmes are, Bachelor of Science Entrepreneurship, Office Management Technology, Quantity Surveying, Optometry, Post Graduate Diploma and Masters in Philosophy, Urban and Regional Planning.
Others are, Bachelor in Public Health, Radiography, Post Graduate Diploma and PhD in Philosophy, Community Health as well as Economics among others.
According to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Rt. Revd Prof. Sunday Obeka, said the approval marks a significant milestone in the ihistory of the Methodist Church, Nigeria-owned University by enhancing its academic offerings and providing more opportunities for students in diverse fields of study.
He advised prospective students to apply now for these programmes as the university prepares to commence full academic activities for the approved courses.
