A pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group,  Defense for Yoruba People’s Rights (DYPR) has said that the recent stampede that  occurred in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital and others in Abuja, the Federal Capital Capital and that of Okija  Anambra State was as a result of the bad policies of the  Federal Government.
The group who attributed the cause of the incident to hardship, poor  economy and hunger currently ravaging the country, which promote greediness among the people of the country.
It therefore blamed the All Progressive Congress-led government in the country over what it described as it’s bad policies and incetivity to the plights of the people of the country.
The Yoruba group in a release contain in it’s Christmas message,   blamed the present  administration in the country under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu for its inability to make life more bearable for the people of the country.
The message signed by the National President of the group, Otunba Muyideen Olamoyegun, condolled  with the bereaved families and parents over the death of their children, explained that the present administration in the country have brought hardship to the people of the country, occasioned by what  he called bad and obnoxious policies of the government.
He urged the Federal  Government to expedite actions that will bring am end to the current hardship in the country, noted that most parents of the victims might have find it very difficult to feed  the children during yuletide season.
“Something were not as bad as this in some years back in the country, Nigerian begin to experienced hardship immediately this present administration came into power.
“Most of the bereaved parents traveled all the way from Oyo and Ogbomosho towns to Ibadan apparently to come and attend the programme and get something for their children, this was due to as a result of poverty and hunger in the country” it stated.
The Yoruba group  emphasized the need for transparency and accountability  in governance and personal conduct to foster progress and tackle the hardship currently ravaging the country.
Lamenting the impact of incentivity, corruption, nepotism, and ethnic divisions on national development, the DYPR urged Nigerians to embrace unity and love as essential values for growth, saying that it is through these the country could experience more development.
The group also highlighted the importance of addressing the level  of poverty, hunger, unemployment and insecurity in the country, saying  the move will further  improve the nation’s situation.
