Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers has shut dead a 46-year-old health worker and abducted his nine years old son.
The incident which occured at about  8:pm  in Oba-Ile, along Akure Airport in Ondo State capital resulted into tension and panic in the area.
The victim whose name was identified as Akinola Oyabiyi, a father of four attached to one of the government health facilities in Akure was said to be driving home on the  fateful day when the suspected gunmen waved him down and shut him dead before whisking his nine years old son away to unknown destination.
According to a source closed to his family, said the deceased lifeless body was left alone for several hours inside his car before he was rushed to a private health facility in the area where he was later confirmed death by the doctors.
The source added that the incident is coming few days after the  murder of five farmers and other multiple kidnapping incidents in the area, including the abduction of students of the Federal College of Agriculture (FECA), Akure working in a farm to fulfil their mandatory Industrial Training (IT) programme among others.
The death of Oyabiyi has continue to raise tension and apprehension  among residents of the area as residents remains indoor, while the whole streets were deserted.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the receipt of the incident and assured members of the public that the police had commenced investigation on the matter.
She promised  that efforts are being intensified by the police to track down the perpetrators and restore security in the area.
