Right Activists advocate for police welfare, urges IGP to resuscitate provost department

The association under the aiges of  Defense for Yoruba People’s Right (DYPR) equally tasked the Inspector General of Police IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, to as a matter of urgency to look into the Provost Department of the Nigeria Police and recusucitate the department for  better performance.

The association urged the IGP to  correct all what it called lack of respect to human rights in the Provost development for better representation of police profession.

The Right Activists spoke in Ondo town, Ondo State on Monday while reacting on the arrest and detained of some serving police officers who spoke on a police Whatsapp platform on the poor welfare packages of some retired police officers who retired between 2015 till date.

The DYPR, an association of Human Rights Activists that focuses on promoting and protecting human rights in Nigeria through advocacy, research, and public awareness campaigns, described police profession as a sensitive and delicate one, urged the concern authorities including the Police Service Commission.

Lamenting over what it called poor welfare and retirement packages for retired police officers, the Human Rights Activists called on the government to intervene and come out with reasonable packages for retired officers.

The Right Activists who described the Inspector General of Police as a competent and experience police boss, who has introduced several innovations and discipline into the Nigeria Police, urged him to pardon and release the detained officers who were  arrested in Lagos and Ondo States respectively without further delay.

Speaking further on the poor remuneration and retirement benefits of the retired police officers, the Right Activists urged the IGP to look into the welfare packages and use the position of his good office and come up with good retirement benefits and packages for the retired officers.
