Member of the National Assembly, representing Ondo East/West Federal Constituency, Hon (Dr) Abiola Peter Makinde, has donated one million naira to members of Ondo East Youths Council (OEYC).
The donations made during a courtesy visit by members of the youths council to the ranking member of the the green chamber in his resident in Ondo town.
The ranking lawmaker who also give the youths a complete cassava processing equipment, with the directive that members of the community be allowed to use the equipment at a fee, which would be deposited into the council’s account.
Speaking during the donations, Makinde, who is the Director General Aiyedatiwa/Adelani Campaign Organization during the 2023 Ondo governorship election, said the gesture is parts of his contributions towards boosting and developing agriculture and other farming activities among members of the youths in the area.
Makinde who appreciate the youths council for the visit, later commended them for what he called the proactive approach of the youth group towards the development of the association, he admonished them to focus more on community advancement rather than politics.
The ranking member of the green chamber used the ocassion to highlights some of the key projects and bills he has championed at the National Assembly in the last six years to include, upgrading of Adeyemi College of Education to a University of Education, dualization of Ore/Akure road as well as the construction of various roads in the constituency.
He promised to continue to do his best apparently to uplift the status of the constituency.
” I promised to facilitate the establishment of an FMC or a General Hospital in Ondo East in collaboration with state or federal authorities. I pledged to extend my empowerment programme to Ondo East.”
“I will continue to support the youth overseas scholarship to develop them. I promised to work towards constructing a mini stadium in Ondo East to promote sports and youth engagement”
Responding, the President of the OEYC, Comrade, Tomide Akinkuolie, thanked the lawmaker for the gesture and the unrelenting support as to the people of the constituency.
The President also acknowledged what he called numerous developmental contributions of the lawmaker towards the development of his constituency, urged him to continue in supporting the youth and the community.
He equally solicited the support of the lawmaker in areas like; education ,healthcare infrastructure, empowerment of vulnerable persons, establishment of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board Centre in Ondo East and procurement of a union bus among others.
