An Ondo town-based widow Mrs Rantí Olanipekun has accused the former Senator, representing Ondo South at the upper legislative house, Honourable Nicholas Tofowoma, of forcefully taking over her late husband cocoa farm.
The 56-year-old widow similarly accused one Mr Bode Olamobisi for allegedly conniving with the Senator of selling her late husband’s cocoa plantation located located in Asio village along Ondo Ile-Oluji town in Ondo State.
She explained that the 5-achre parcels of land contained cocoa and other cash crops located in the same venue was the only property left behind by her late husband who died in 2002.
She alledged that the former lawmaker forcefully intrude on the farm land after she refused to sale the land for the former lawmaker.
The widow in a letter written through an Ondo town-based Human Rights Activist, Mr Bolawa Akindolie, to the Forum for Human Rights Defence (FHRD) Ondo town chapter, a copy which was made available to Journalists alledged that Senator Tofowoma equally damaged all her cash crops on the land later threatened to kill her and her children.
The letter entitled “Save My Soul”accused the former Ondo State Commissioner for Transport and the Senator, for using his former positions to intimidate her by invaded her late husband farmland and damaged her cocoa and other cash crops estimated about one billion naira.
According to the letter, the widow lamented that “I and my children inherited the farmland contained cocoa, kolanut, palm trees and other cash crops from my late husband, Usiola Ojo Olanipekun, who also inherited it from his late father Pa Ajayi Olanipekun.
“My husband fought for the ownership of the land in two different courts of competent jurisdictions in Ondo State, the case was won by my husband.
However, the Senator had in several occasions sent to me, if I have the interest of selling the land alongside with cash crops on the land, I refused and told him that is an inheritance property from my late husband with two different court judgements.
“On the fateful day, the former Senator in companied of some military officers invaded my farmland with bulldozer to destroyed all our crops on the farm.
“The matter was reported at the Zone 17 of Nigeria Police as well as Ondo Area Command of Nigeria Police, but all efforts made to stop the former Senator was proved abortive”
The widow on an emotional laden voice, appealed to the Ondo State Government, religious organizations, public spirited individuals to assist her in getting her land back from the former Senator and pay damages.
She lamented that live has not be the same since the Senator have destroyed all her cash crops on the farm land.
All efforts to get the reaction of the Senator was proved abortive as text messages sent to his phone was not returned, similarly, all calls to his phone was not picked.
