ONDO/ILESHA CHILD TRAFFICKING:
AFA CHILD CARE ADVOCACY FOUNDATION CONDEMNS ACTS, CALLS FOR STRICT INVESTIGATION
Following the arrest of some suspects who engaged in buying and selling of children in Ondo and Ilesha in Osun State, the AFA Child Care Advocacy Foundation, has expressed its deep concern about the shocking revelation of child trafficking involving Lukman Isiaka, Abosede Olerin, and Sabira Izuorah.
The foundation said the fact that these individuals have been stealing children from Ondo and Ilesha since 2023 is a clear indication of a systemic failure to protect vulnerable children.
The AFA foundation in a statement by its Digital Secretary Ayorinde Timilehin Adetula, said the “foundation as an organization dedicated to advocating for the welfare and rights of children.
“We commend the Ondo State Police Command for their efforts in rescuing the victims and apprehending the suspects.
”However, we strongly believe that more needs to be done to prevent such heinous crimes from occurring in the first place.
“We demand that the government and relevant authorities take immediate action to:
1. “Strengthen child protection laws and policies*: Ensure that existing laws and policies are effectively implemented to prevent child trafficking and abuse.
2. “Increase awareness and education, Educate communities, parents, and caregivers about the risks of child trafficking and the importance of reporting suspicious activities.
3. “Provide support and care for victims: Ensure that rescued children receive adequate care, counseling, and support to help them recover from their traumatic experiences.
4 “Bring perpetrators to justice. Ensure that those responsible for child trafficking are held accountable and face the full force of the law.
“We will continue to advocate for the rights and welfare of children and work with relevant stakeholders to prevent child trafficking and abuse.
“Together, we can make a difference and create a safer world for our children”
