2,000 employment awaits Ondo youths  as   5MW independent power plant sets to take-off
The  Executive Director, Galaxy Backbone Limited, Mr Olumbe Akinkugbe, has disclossed that the newly launched 5-Megawatt Independent Power Plant in Ondo City,  when fully commissioned and begin operations,  no fewer than  two thousand youths in the area will be gainfully employed.
Akinkugbe, in a statement by his Media Adviser, Miss Bukky Oyeniyi, said the Independent Power Plant is an initiative of the Ondo city-borned Information Communication Technology (ICT) expert, Mr Olumbe Akinkugbe,  aimed at reshaping the socio-economic landscape of Ondo State and Nigeria in general.
Explained that the project which is in partnership with Lincs Power Limited, spearheaded by Mr Akinkugbe, who is also the Executive Director of Digital Exploration and Technical Services at Galaxy Backbone Limited.
Noted that the project, apart from the two thousand  youths that will be gainfully employed,  it is a long-awaited development following the concession granted to investors over four years ago.
The Chief Executive Officer,  however,  expressed  gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa and  commended the administration’s commitment to fostering an enabling environment for such transformative investments to strive in the state.
He noted that in the first phase of the project, the immediate impact will be the gas-powered electricity project  that will provide 24-hour power supply to key institutions within Ondo City, including, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Medical Village, Laje, including the Mother and Child Hospitals.
Other areas mentioned by him are all streetlights across Ondo City, General Hospital, Ondo, Adeyemi Federal University of Education among other institutions in the community.
In the second phase of the project, according to Akinkugbe, it will  extend to all residential areas in the town as well as some neighbouring communities and settlements.
“Following the successful implementation of the first phase, the power supply will be expanded to residential clusters within the city, providing clean, alternative energy to thousands of residents.
“The 5MW power plant is expected to revolutionize Ondo city’s economic activities by ensuring uninterrupted electricity for small businesses and industries. Reliable power will also enhance security, improve healthcare services, and boost overall quality of life for residents.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to industrialization as a key driver of development is once again evident through this ambitious project. The launch of the power plant aligns with his administration’s vision of positioning Ondo State as a hub for economic growth and industrial sustainability
